Imagine if a kid is sitting ahead- on top of you, spilling his juice on your lap, in this case, instead of on his own. But this guy, Nunez Vicente, says he's doing it for the better of humanity, that he has heard from airlines and seat designers. Given the price of jet fuel, too, that much of added passengers, I would think, would be unsustainable. Even for the lower prices, I can't imagine. And I think it's going to be mostly all negative here. SEANA SMITH: If you have to go to the bathroom, you're out of luck.ĭAVE BRIGGS: I'm with you. SEANA SMITH: You can't stand up at all, no. It's less than five feet between you and the ceiling.ĭAVE BRIGGS: So you can't stand up at all. I was reading that if you're on the top, you would think that the top layer would- the top row would actually be a little bit better. The fact that you can't stand up, it's extremely claustrophobic. But no, I don't think I would even take it for free. As production comes to a close, the A380 will keep flying for decades to come, and Airbus is continuing to fully support A380 operators and their fleets. I don't think I would go on a flight unless it was maybe 20 minutes where I'm not flying anywhere that would only take a 20-minute flight. Passenger Aircraft A380 The iconic A380 has flown over 800,000 flights carrying more than 300 million passengers since its entry into service. I already get claustrophobic if I'm in the middle seat. I don't- no, I don't even know if I would do it for free. Is there a price you'd be willing to pay to cram into this space? The 22-year-old says he's open to feedback, negative and positive, from flyers. And he's received lots of interest from major airlines trying to make better use of their space, as well as some hefty investment. The double-decker could be installed in medium to large wide-body aircrafts such as a Boeing 747 and Airbus A330.Now airplane seat designer Alejandro Nunez Vicente thinks this chair's long design could revolutionize budget air travel. “My purpose here is the change the economy class seats for the better of humanity, or for all the people than cannot afford to pay for more expensive tickets,” says Núñez Vicente. Travelers could feel claustrophobic since the upper deck is directly above the bottom row seat. Its design allows passengers to sleep lying down or sitting upright, while still being able to extend their legs. The Zephyr Seat, which was introduced in 2020, also takes inspiration from double-decker buses. The bottom row of seats allows for travelers to stretch out their legs since there isn’t a seat directly in front. This isn’t the first time double-decker seats have been presented as a concept for the future of flying. Instead of overhead cabins, there is space between both levels for travelers to store their luggage. One of the key features of the Boeing 747 and the Airbus A380 is their double-deck design. CNN Travel reports that the top deck seats are roomy and comfortable. The top level of the prototype has two ladder-like steps for travelers to get to the top. Did you know The Airbus A380 Is the only full-length double decker passenger aircraft ever built, the A380 is so large that it could, in theory, carry a maximum of 853 passengers if all seats were economy class WhatsApp at +263786898096 For all Flight Bookings. Núñez Vicente says, “I grow more from listening to the critics and listening to the bad comments, than from listening to the good comments and the flowers that they throw me.” There are concerns about sitting under other travelers during a double-decker flight.
